Ubuntu Voyages welcomes you to the East African region with mysterious lands full of wonders which make them ultimate African adventure destinations.
About Us
We provide a wide range of travel services and offer opportunities for alternative tourism (eco-tourism and responsible tourism). Our mission is grounded in the philosophy of Ubuntu. The word “Ubuntu” is a Nguni word – Nguni languages are a group of bantu languages spoken in southern Africa by Nguni people. The nguni proverb “Ubuntu ngumtu ngabanye abantu” describes the core principle of Ubuntu and is translated as a person is a person through other persons.
This can be rephrased as ‘I am, because of you’. The word ‘Ubuntu’ is also present in many bantu languages spoken in the DRC, Rwanda and Burundi; and it means “the fact of being a human”.
Our Mission
Our mission is to offer opportunities for people from different cultures and backgrounds to meet and connect, to strengthen and spread the philosophy of Ubuntu through tourism; and to go beyond psychological and geographical barriers between people for common interest of happiness in living and working together for a sustainable development; and finally to promote African values, among them solidarity and hospitality; remembering that the later has been known as the characteristic of the Democratic Republic of Congo when it was called Zaire. .
Our Vision
To bring all human beings to discover and appreciate, via tourism, what they have in common.

Summarizing this remarkable journey in a review is no simple task. The founder of Ubuntu is undeniably an impressive individual. He maintains a remarkable sense of calm and composure while... read more displaying exceptional resourcefulness and intelligence. It's worth noting that he not only manages a tour company but also maintains strong philanthropic ties to his community - quite impressive.
Experiencing his country through his perspective was a defining aspect of the trip. However, what truly made the experience memorable was the kindness of the people we encountered and the unspoiled natural beauty that surrounded us.
From the initial trip planning to the day-to-day execution on the ground, the entire journey was flawlessly organized. I am a strong advocate for Ubuntu Voyages and would be happy to provide more details about my experience. I look forward to future trips back to the DRC, but first to other destinations with Ubuntu Voyages.

Just do it!!! - We travelled from Rwanda to the Bwindi forest in Uganda with ease. Of course the gorillas are amazing but the other half of the experience is getting there. Romy and... read more Robert, our driver, were paramount in ensuring every little aspect of our trip was comfortable and to our liking. From our food, to accommodations requirements, to crossing the border, every detail was taken care of. I am certain that good words were even put in with the rangers so that our experience within the group visiting the gorillas was a focal point. Romy and Robert were honest, personable and good humored and that made conversations along the way fun and meaningful. Fun fact the name Ubuntu means "A philosophical approach to life that emphasizes social unity and generosity of spirit." This name holds true to Romy and Robert's character. I am grateful to have met these two men, and thankful for all the hard work they put into making our journey special.

Our gorilla trekking at... read more K-B was fantastic, thanks to the arrangement he made. We took his advice and sailed from Bukavu to Goma on the ferry. Throughout our trip, Romy made sure that everything went smoothly ... which is something that requires effort in the DRC. We recommend Romy highly and without reservation.

Democratic Republic of Congo with Ubuntu Voyages: An Unforgettable Experience with a Fantastic Tour Agency - An Amazing Experience.
In early Feb. 2023 I arranged to take a one-week trip in the Democratic Republic of Congo organized by Ubuntu Voyages and guided by Romuald Adili, Ubuntu... read more Voyages's owner. The tour included a couple days in Kahuzi-Biega National Park where we did a lowland gorilla trek, hiked up Mt. Kahuzi and to a couple beautiful waterfalls, a trip to the Idjwi Islands on Lake Kivu, a tour of the city of Bukavu, a visit to an orphanage and a visit to a primate sanctuary.
From the moment I arrived at the Kemembe Airport on the Rwandan border until the moment I stepped back into Rwanda 8 days later, Romy (Romuald) took great care of me and the other person who joined us on our tour. Transport, food, lodging, guides specific to each area; Romy saw to it all, and whenever there arose an interest or need that was not on the original agenda, Romy was eager to accommodate.
You'd be hard-pressed to find someone more valuable and enjoyable to spend time with in DRC then Romy. He is knowledgeable about all things Congo, has a great sense of humor and is well connected. He is fluent in English, French and Swahili (at least). He works hard to please his clients and will happily customize a tour based on one's particular interests. He plays a lead role in establishing tourism in Eastern DRC, so he has a substantial personal stake in his client's wellbeing. The people and businesses he works with - drivers, guides, hotels, cooks- were all friendly, honest and interesting people.
When researching a visit to DRC, you've likely heard that in some regions security can be a concern. Far fewer tourists visit the nation on a whole (the second largest country in Africa) because of the reputation of these couple regions. On my travels in DRC, never once did I feel unsafe. And in my opinion, like other less touristed places in the world, travel in DRC is a more rich and unique experience because of this. People tend to be a little happier to see you and people work a little harder to make sure you are cared for, enjoying yourself and leave with a positive impression to share with the world.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has so much natural beauty, interesting culture and diverse wildlife to offer, it is mind boggling. It tops the list in so many categories of flora and fauna yet its potential remains largely untapped. This combination makes it among the rarest and most intriguing travel opportunities one can find on the planet right now. Do your research, decide for yourself, and if you do go, I heartily recommend that you reach out to Ubuntu Voyages first. I will never forget the time I spent in DRC and hope to return as soon as I can.
